The Official Rope of the FDNY Personal Escape System now comes with a Crosby S-360 anchor hook. Response to Bg answer to previous question:

    This application is an escape option from a 5th floor apartment - for athletic women in their 20s. So not for professional fire-fighters. Looked at Res-Q-Ladder option - I prefer it but it cannot be readily secured to building due to ultra-wide sills. Now looking at this option. I found the hook dimensions (an earlier question) via on-line search.

    Firehouse is literally a few hundred yards away down the narrow inner city street. Window faces street, so fire dept. should be able to respond quickly. But - I want a Plan B - if things go bad quickly. This hook and rope system may be sub optimal, but viable. MM

  • Q:

    Is the hook strongly secured to the rope or do we have to do that?

    Also, what are the dimensions of the hook? We have looked at escape ladders, but the 10" connection hooks are too narrow for older buildings with thick walls and sills. Hence we're looking at things to connect the hook to.

    Thx. MM

      Matt, did you read our web page? this sentence we copied from there say's it all;
      Official Rope of the FDNY Personal Escape System with a Crosby S-360 anchor hook.
      from reading your question you are not looking to use this for fire fighting, sounds like you are looking for an escape rope from a 2nd or 3rd floor condo/apartment. If there are children involved in your thinking you should look at the chain or rope ladders, children will have a harder time with this rope and hook. The chain ladders and rope ladders are sold all over and they will hook on to the older style window sills, in doing so you might lose a couple feet in length but should still allow you to escape.
