Comments about True North: Stealth Radio Harness, NFPA:
Great product but with a 42" chest it didn't fit and I had to have it modified for $8.00 at my local alteration shop
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I cannot say enough about this harness. This is truly the perfect minimalist harness for wildland firefighters. For me personally, I don't need to carry anything but my radio and a notebook on my chest, so this works perfectly. It is very well constructed, and built from rugged material. I have three minor complaints though. The zippered pocket is a little too small. You can get an IRPG in there, if you jam it in, hard. It barely holds a small notebook, which for me is great because that's all I need. The pen holder seems to be on the wrong side. To me it should be on the same side as the zipper. The radio obstructs access to the pen, which is mildly inconvenient. I got used to it quickly though. Lastly, there is no dedicated antenna holder or microphone catch. You have to shove it into the slot on the shoulder pad. This works fine with long antennas, but not so well with the new Motorola handhelds with short antennas. If you push the shoulder pad down to hold the antenna, you lose the padding on your shoulder. I solved this by tying the excess strap around the antenna, which slides in and out without having to untie it.It seems like a lot of negative, but it's not really. I just wanted to point them out. I would not even for a second let them discourage you from buying this harness. Every inconvenience is minor, and this harness is so light and durable not to get one. It keeps me much cooler than the larger harness as well. Even in the back, where the larger True North harness have a massive back piece of material, this one has only a ring of webbing connecting everything together. MUCH cooler to work with.So in summary, with this harness, you can't go wrong.
