This rescue system includes
RIT 500 rope and a Crosby S-360 Anchor Hook. RIT Lines are rapidly becoming one
of the best personal life-safety tools used in firefighting search and rescue
situations. Sterling developed the RIT 500 to give firefighters the ability and
confidence to be "hands free" in difficult search operations. RIT Lines are fire-resistant
"tag" lines that help firefighters maintain physical contact in extreme heat and
rapidly deteriorating conditions. They significantly increase a team's speed,
efficiency, and safety within a burning building. They also provide reference
points so that additional outside crews are able to follow in quickly and safely.
The RIT 500 measures 8mm in diameter and has an aramid kernmantle construction
with a nylon core. Its heat resistance is 932° Fahrenheit—lower than the
RIT 900 due to its nylon core. This 8mm rope is a super strong, very durable,
heat- and cut-resistant "tag" line and also qualifies as a Personal Escape Rope.

Hook Specifictions:
- The hook is intended
to be a component of a system specifically designed by a qualified person
for firefighter escape.
- The user is to be trained
in the proper usage of the system.
- After any use, the hook
must be inspected. Any evidence of paint discoloration due to heat damage,
hook deformation, or alteration is cause for removal from service and replacement.
- Forged Alloy Steel -
Quenched and Tempered.
- This hook was designed
in conjunction with members of FDNY as a component in their fire escape system.
- Each product has a Product
Identification Code (PIC) for material traceability, along with the name Crosby
forged into it.
- Design Factor of 4.4
to 1 (per NFPA 1983).
- The bowl (saddle) of
the hook is designed to easily fit around pipes or framework, and the machined
tip is rated for full Working Load Limit.
