The retractable Defender Visor—never lose your goggles again. The new Defender® Visor for Cairns 1010 and 1044 Traditional Helmet offers effective eye protection from dust, dirt, and grit. Yet this sleek, innovative visor completely disappears inside the helmet shell when not needed, for the ultimate in compact convenience. Cairn’s unique, design allows the visor to be raised and lowered in an instant, even with gloved hands. And if it does get dirty or damaged, or when light conditions favor a different lens color, the Defender’s quick-disconnect system is designed for fast lens change-out, without tools.

Tuffshield lens offers superior scratch resistance and thermal performance. The standard, slightly-tinted NFPA-compliant Tuffshield Defender Visor is heat-resistant up to 500°F. Other visor colors will start to melt at 345°F.

Shell
• Ultra tough, Duraglas composite material. Performs extremely well in a fire helmet design.
• Through color material. If the shell is scratched it will still show the original color. Only colors available are red, yellow, black and white.
• Use of non-painted shell. Provides rugged performance with a style some firefighters prefer.

Impact Cap
• Water-based foam material. Will not burn or char unlike older foam versions.
• Tube-lock system is incorporated in the cap. This is part of the shock absorbing system to create a more protective fire helmet.
• Ease of Adjustment. Easy to adjust front adjustment tab. Simple three hold pin-lock adjustment tabs in the rear.

Other
• Low ride helmet design. Gives the wearer a better balanced helmet. The helmet has a lower center of gravity than the competition.
• The 1010 has full NFPA 1971-2000 approval. This helmet not only meets the standard but is designed and tested to go beyond it.
