American Firewear’s new targeted Heat-Guard insulation front provides an extra measure of protection where helmet ear flaps do not contribute to insulation…and MOST head burns occur.

Extra insulation where most burns occur. The need for extra insulation around the facemask, but outside the ear cover, has been addressed in the 2007 edition NFPA 1971 Standard requirements of beefed up helmet ear cover insulation of 20 TPP, when hoods alone are only required to have 20 TPP. The patented exterior Eagle HTC™ Carbon Blend Black and interior Nomex® fleece Heat-Guard on American Firewear’s new Ventilated Eagle™ full drape hood elevates the total performance outside the ear covers to over 40 TPP—about equal to the required 20 TPP hood plus 20 TPP helmet ear covers.It provides full-face thermal coverage with minimal extra cost and weight. The Heat Guard Hood gives you the extra insulation you need, but only where you need the extra protection.

Double layer head and bib sections provide extra interface overlap at the chest and back: Heat Guard hood has two different fabrics in the head section; two layers of off-white 100% Nomex on the rear of head and bib.
Full drape bib provides added protection to shoulder and chest area, designed to prevent riding up or bunching at the neck.
True flatlock topseam allows the helmet to rest firmly on the head; prevents the topseam from “digging in
Heavy duty elastic face opening with a unique gathering pattern allows over 17” of stretch with an instantaneous snap-back and exceptional comfort.
Double stitched bindings at the face and hem are reinforced for the highest durability.
