Pull open the pouch, snap the filter onto your SCBA mask, and breathe—just like a real Last Chance Rescue Filter®. Then do it again. And again. Until you’re secure. Training Units are the same size, shape, and fit as the working Last Chance Rescue Filters®, with identical adapters, to fit onto your SCBA mask in exactly the same way. While not a working filter, each trainer is designed to simulate the weight and breathing resistance of the actual unit, to make the user comfortable with the feeling of using it. Because its protective packaging is a critical part of the Last Chance Rescue Filter system, the Filter Trainer Kit also includes a Barrier Pouch Trainer. The training pouch has red plastic balls that are pulled apart to open it, just as you would open the actual vacuum-sealed barrier pouch, but its re-sealable Velcro-closure allows the system to be used over and over. Both the pouch and canister should be packed inside the protective Nomex Carry Pouch (included with the actual Last Chance Rescue Filter, and available separately) so the trainee can go through the full deployment and operational procedure repeatedly, to become proficient and confident in its use in a wide range of situations. Both the training filter and the carry pouch can be washed and reused as often as necessary, and by multiple trainees.

Order extra Nomex Carry Pouches for proper training. While your crew can use their original pouches for training, it’s best to have pouches specifically earmarked for use with your Last Chance Trainers. This keeps your training gear all together, for use by anyone, at any time. Plus it helps keep ensure that this critical part of your Last Chance Rescue Filter System is always available and ready for real emergencies. Additional Protective Nomex Carry Pouches are available separately.

Technical Information:

• Intended Use: The Trainer Filter is a non-functioning unit designed for use in non-smoke environments only. It attaches to the user’s SCBA mask in the same manner as an actual working filter and effectively restricts air flow to simulate the feel of breathing through an actual, functioning Last Chance Rescue Filter in an emergency situation.
• Training Recommendations: The manufacturer suggests training with full gear whenever possible, and also with a blacked-out mask to simulate zero-visibility conditions, until the user is comfortable and proficient in donning and using the Last Chance Rescue Filter in a variety of possible situations and conditions. NOTE: Training should be conducted at least annually to satisfy SCBA OSHA requirements.
• Duration of Use: The Trainer can be used as long as necessary for effective training. It can be washed and re-used as often as necessary by multiple trainees. (An active Last Chance Rescue Filter is rated to provide 15 minutes of protection against exposure to toxic gases.)
• Dimensions:

• Filter: 3.25” diameter x 4.5”- 5.5” tall, depending on mask adapter.
• Filter in Carry Pouch: 4.5” diameter x approx 6.5” tall

• Weight: Less than 1 lb. (450 grams).
• Packaging: Closely replicates the feel and function of the actual vacuum-sealed foil barrier pouch, but the re-sealable Velcro-closing pouch is reusable over and over. When closed around the training canister, it can be packed inside the Last Chance Rescue Filter’s protective Nomex® carrying pouch.
• SIZE and FIT: Last Chance Rescue Filter and Trainer Systems are offered with adapters designed to fit specific SCBA systems. Be certain that the Last Chance Rescue Filter and Trainer you choose is made to fit the SCBA that you are using.
