The National Electric Code (NEC) defines hazardous locations by “Class” & “Division.”
There are 3 classes:
Class 1 locations are made hazardous by the presence of flammable gases, liquids, or vapors.
Class 2 locations are hazardous because combustible dusts are present.
Class 3 locations contain easily ignitable fibers or flyings.

The “Division” designation refers to the likelihood that ignitable concentrations of flammable materials are present. There are two divisions:

Division 1 designates an environment where ignitable concentrations of flammable gases, liquids, vapors, or dust can exist some of the time or all of the time under normal operating conditions, or where easily ignitable fibers and flyings are manufactured, handled, or used.

Division 2 locations are where ignitable concentrations are not likely to exist under normal operating conditions or where Class 3 materials are stored or handled.

Hazardous classes are further defined by “groups” based on the physical properties of their combustible materials.
The groups include:
Group A: Acetylene
Group B: Hydrogen
Group C: Ethylene, and carbon monoxide
Group D: Propane, gasoline, naphtha, benezene, butane, ethyl alcohol, acetone, and methane
Group E: Metals including aluminum, and magnesium (Div. 1 only)
Group F: Carbonaceous dusts including coal, carbon black, and coke
Group G: Dusts not included in E and F including wood, plastics, flour, starch, and grain dusts

Impact Resistance is the height, measured in meters, from which the light can be dropped onto cured concrete and still work properly. Dropped samples cannot have any visible cracks or breaks and must remain fully functional to receive rating.

Waterproof up to at least an IPX7 rating which means the sample is submerged to a minimum of 1 meter depth for 30 minutes. If this test is performed it must be done after impact resistance is completed to ensure water resistance under real-life conditions.

Missing Parts

by

I bought the AA model flashlight and when i opened it to install the batteries the tray that you install the batteries in was missing i contacted the fire store and they said i doesnt come with it and they dont sell that item. It shows it on the back of the package. No help from Fire store or the manufacturer to get it resolved.

Great for interior firefighting

by

This is one bright flashlight. I also like the big on/off button, makes turning it on and off with gloves much easier.

Enviable light

by

This is an incredibly performing compact light with an intense beam. This light was purchased for inspecting the conditions and work being performed in large above ground storage tanks. Everyone that has seen this light has remarked that they are going to have to go get one. I purchased three more, after using this for one week. This light cut right through the dusty environment generated during sandblasting.

Very bright and useful light

by

This light is the best I have ever owned. It's bright, lightweight, and just a plain simple useful light. I would recommend this light to anyone skeptical about buying a right angle light. And fast shipping from The Fire Store.

Great Flashlight!!!

by

Liked how the lens protrudes less than a Streamlite and has a longer run time. Tried to get these for our dept., but Streamlite has a no hassle warranty, a few dollars cheaper and is better know. But the guys all liked this one more than the other, you can shine deer with it if you want, it's that bright. Fire Store will ship it in a box big enough for a beer cooler, expensive and wasteful.

Won't stand high temps

by

Our department added these to our list that we can use our allotment for. About a year ago, I was in a house fire, and the light just went out, along with several others. Later on, they all came back on. I contacted the company that makes them, and they told me that there was a problem with the battery door, and that at high temps, the batteries lose contact, and the light would go out. They sent me and a couple others new lights, and sent new battery doors to our uniform store. Flash forward to a year later, last night, we were in another house fire that was pretty toasty. 4 of us had lights that went out. All Responder 90 degree lights. I am emailing the company again, but pretty much just to see what they say. I used a Streamlight for over 18 years with no problems, and just switched to these because our clothing allotment covered them. Not worth it. They are a good light until it gets hot, then you can't count on it working.

Great light would buy again

Fast chage and bright

Light goes out during a fire

by

Good solid flashlight and very bright. The battery access is poor as it requires a screwdriver which makes changing batteries in the field problematic. The biggest issue I have is that the light goes out during an actual fire situation. I have been in several fires with this light and after a few minutes, the light goes out. This is definitely not safe nor reliable. In reading other reviews, I can see that others have experienced the same issue of the light going out during actual fire use.

Outstanding!

Great light for keeping on my gear. Much brighter than similar lights used by the other fellas.

It's ok

I own this light and a survivor flashlight of the same style. I purchased this looking for something that on paper (or screen in this case) that would be the same or better. This light comes up short on that. The light doesn't seem to be any brighter and is a bit unfocused compared to the survivor light with the plug in the lense. The button to turn the light on and off is strange and easy to miss inside of the black rubber part. The container for holding the batteries/rechargeable battery pack is solid but does require a Phillips head screw driver to open. It will do until I get my survivor light back from warranty work.
