Made of forged 6061-T6 aluminum with a durable hard-coat anodized finish, CMI's "Original" NFPA Rescue 8 Descender is big enough to handle the largest ropes — two of them at a time. Extended horns or "ears" on the upper ring make tying off a snap by preventing the rope from sliding up and locking off. Dual holes on the tie-in end allow the 8-ring to remain attached to the harness while you're threading the rope, thus preventing loss of the device in extreme conditions. Though not NFPA certified, this descender exceeds tests for the national fire protection association standard on fire service life safety rope and system components (NFPA 1983-2006 edition). CMI's "Original" NFPA Rescue 8 Descender is the industry standard for rescue grade descenders.
