Formed in 1962 as a way for firefighters to celebrate their Irish heritage, the Pipes & Drums has since become one of the most important institutions in the F.D.N.Y.
After September 11, 2001, the band made it their mission to play every funeral and memorial service for the 343 members of the Fire Department that died that day. Their courage and dedication have turned the band into a globally recognized organization and a symbol of freedom and honor. Chief of Department Edward Kilduff said it best: “The F.D.N.Y.
