low riding comfy helmet

by

never liked how carins helmets rode high on my head but i wanted the eye protection like the defender. i bought this helmet for that reason. this helmet is super comfortable. it sits low on my head and the eye protection is very easy to use and it is adjustable as to how far it comes down. it comes with a block to where it will not allow it to come down when you are doing interior work. it sits well while wearing a scba mask. all around good helmet and it is VERY VERY light

nice helmet but, TERRIBLE SUSPENSION

by

This helmet is very light, sits low and is comfortable. BUT the inner suspension in the back of the helmet is held in by velcro. The velcro is attached to the helmet shell with a peal away sticky "" glue"" velcro tape. If you get into a hot fire the tape come's unglued and the helmet shell will fall forward, leaving the ratchet and head band tight around your head where you had it adjusted. This helmet would be perfect if they went with the Ben 2 low rider suspension.

the EZ touch eye protection is great

by

Nice traditional look with modern lightweight materials. EZ touch eye protection is a great feature.

EV1

by

By far the best helmet I have ever owned. Other helmets usually start hurting after about 15 minutes of wear and give me a head ache. This helmet has a low profile, fits well, is lighter and more comfortable than all others I have tried. I love the retractable eye pro shield. It works great and gets a lot of compliments as well, I have spent more time letting my co-workers check it out than I have wearing it.

I would buy another one!

Love it. Have gotten some real good use out of it. Would recommend it to anyone in the fire service. Some of the guys in my department like it. Worth the money I paid for it.

Decent Helmet But Not My First Choice

by

I was issued this helmet 4 months ago to replace my ""Cairns 1010"". First the Pros... The first thing you notice is how light this helmet is; I really like how you can wear it for a good long time with no neck fatigue. The integral eye protection is also really handy if you lose track of your safety glasses on occasion. The fit and feel are quite nice with the mesh suspension cover to tuck your nomex behind and a leather sweatband. The Cons... I do not like the suspension system. As has been mentioned in other comments, the rear portion of the suspension is held in place with a piece of velcro tape. I don't like my pumpkin protector to be held together with tape or velcro... If it had a system similar to my 1010 I would be much happier. The Appearance of the helmet while not terrible looks considerably wider than other helmets I have used. If you have a small head as I do, you look kind of funny wearing it. When we got our helmets in, I was tasked with fitting the new fronts to the helmets, this was easier said than done... All the bottom mounting brackets on the helmets were crooked, and not all in the same manner. Each helmet had to have the front custom fit to it so it wouldn't be crooked as well. So now if you look at the helmets in detail, the fronts are straight and true with the helmet but the screws holding them on look slightly out of place. Last negative is just my preference mostly, but I feel like the earflaps come too far forward on the front and get irritatingly close to my eye area. I found an okay way to tuck them so its not distracting, but can still yank them down when I need them. Overall it has performed fairly well and is a very comfortable helmet. I've only had it in a couple fires and they weren't all that hot, so I don't know how well the velcro tape is going to hold up to the heat. I wish it looked less bulbous on my head, but there's not much I can do about that...

Great helmet, would recommend to others

by

The EV1 helmet is a great choice for me, the helmet is lower profile and is light weight. I really have no big ""CONS"" for this helmet but 1, the netting in the suspension i can do with out but otherwise the helmet sits well on my head and is comfortable. I give 5 star for this item.

Came broken

by

Very unsatisfied! The EZ touch came broke and won't retract...

Trash

by

My department bought a bunch of these helmets last year to try them out and we joked around saying they looked like toy helmets. As it turns out, they perform like toy helmets also. Four of them are in the trash so far. The EZ touch eye protection visors are so poorly designed, most of them have already broken. They're either not coming down when deployed or they won't stay back up when stowed. The spring is completely shot on one, The back brim on one has CRACKED from a guy just picking it up off the ground, and the chin strap came off another one. I mean, really Honeywell? Definitely not worth the money you're charging for these. Big waste of money that the dept. has to eat

Could be better quality

by

This helmet is much heavier than it should be. It isn't balanced very well and rides very low in the front brim. The front sweatband on the helmet isn't moisture absorbing so anytime you sweat it just goes straight into your eyes. The suspension system isn't very comfortable for wearing any longer than an hour. Rear d-ring holder is weak and bends very easily. The built in eye shields are pretty nice.
