Q&A's:

"How long will (1) filter last in a contaminated environment and are the canisters single use (like if I used it for an hour and then not for another few weeks would I need to replace the filter?) Thanks"

How long this will last will be different for you than it would be for me, it's just like wearing a SCBA with a 30 minute bottle, you might be able to last for 25 minutes before you will have to exit the area, I might only be able to stay there for 15 minutes before I need to exit. As far as reusing the canisters we don't recommend you do this, it's already been partial used, and it might have been used for 1 type of hazmat and now your going into a different hazmat area. we would say a big DO NOT do this

"We store the canister on the mask for response. What is recomendation on the shelf life once outside the foil package, and is anything in writing?"

They have a 4 year shelf life, UNOPENED, there is an expiration date on the foil package.

"Will this work with a HONEYWELL: SURVIVAIR OPTI-FIT TACTICAL RIOT CONTROL GAS MASK - 5-POINT STRAP-MEDIUM?"

Not 100% sure but I think they are universal fit they should have a 40mm thread.

"My organization stores these canisters open and already installed on our respirators. What is the shelf life for these canisters in that configuration?"

They have a 4 year shelf life, UNOPENED, there is an expiration date on the foil package. if you have them out of the foil package, they are in a open air environment, it's possible that you would need to put a new canister on the before you use it, we would recommend that you not do this before you need to.

"HOW LONG DOES IT LAST! You didn't answer the question you made a non-specific comparison to a SCUBA tank. If I am wearing your filter in a gas environment how long will it last before it becomes ineffective? 20 minutes? 30 minutes? 60 minutes? Just a general question asking for an approximate answer."

Unfortunately, there is no straight answer because there are too many variables. The life span of any cartridge depends on the type of gas, the age of the cartridge, the temperature, how heavily you're breathing, and a bunch of other factors. You'll know when the cartridge is nearing the end of its life when it gets harder to breath through it or you can begin to taste and smell through the cartridge. Some canisters and cartridges, typically ones designed for working with really dangerous chemicals, change colors as they're used up, but these are not unfortunately.
